House committee of Minorities Dept. of Telangana Assembly meets: Many officials absent

Hyderabad: A meeting of the House Committee of Dept. of Minorities Welfare was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of its chairman, Mr. Amer Shakeel, TRS MLA. Many important officials did not attend the meeting. A letter was written to the Chief Secretary to take action against the officials who remained absent. Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare apprised the members of the stand taken by the Govt. on wakf properties.

Mr. Shakeel told that Govt. is conducting the survey of lands from 15th September. It is the right time to get wakf properties to get registered in Revenue Records. He also informed that no attention was paid on the protection of wakf properties as a result of which revenue department registered wakf properties as Govt. properties.

The next meeting of the committee will be held on 12th and 13th September in which matters pertaining to budget allocation and disbursement of scholarships would be discussed. The committee also decided to visit the districts to ensure registration of Wakf properties in Revenue Records. The committee requested the Secretary of the Department of Minorities Welfare to prepare a draft bill replacing the present Qazi Act.

Mr. Farooq Husain, Mr. Sampath Kumar, Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi, Mr. Stephens and Mr. Vinay Bhasker attended the meeting.
