New Delhi, August 16: Seeking urgent intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, Haryana government today demanded setting up of a separate High Court for its state by bifurcating the existing Punjab and Haryana High Court.
“My state still stands deprived of its own High Court and I beg them (Prime Minister and Union Law Minister) to urgently intervene in the matter. It is our constitutional right that is being denied. States which have come into existence years after the State of Haryana was born have already set up their High Courts,” Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said.
He was speaking at the Conference of Chief Ministers of States and Chief Justices of High Courts here.
