Hoax call received by Hyderabad resident traced to Saudi

Hyderabad, July 18: A hoax caller, who phoned a local resident and threatened that a bomb would go off in Chatrinaka area here, has been traced to Dammam city of Saudi Arabia and efforts were underway to arrest the prankster with the help of Saudi Arabian Embassy, police said today.

Following a complaint by one Shiva Krishan Singh, that he received a bomb threat call on his land phone yesterday, Chatrinaka Police took up investigations and conducted extensive anti-sabotage checks by bomb squads in the area and at mosques, temples and public places. The searches found the call to be a hoax, they said.

During electronic surveillance, the source of the call was traced to Dammam city and the caller was identified as an 18-year-old student Abdul Rahman, South Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police N Madhusudhan Reddy said.
