Higher allocation of funds to Mahboob nagar district for road works

The budget allocation for the erstwhile bigger Mahbubnagar district was higher than all other districts in the State for taking up roads and highways works.

Disclosing this in the Assembly on Friday during question hour, Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said never in the past three years such a huge budget allocation was made to that district. An amount of Rs 1914 crore was allocated in the budget under the R&B head. Mallepally, Devarakonda, Kalwakurthy, Jadcherla, Raichur highways in the district were provided Rs 800 crore and tender process was completed and works would start shortly, he explained.

          

The Minister also said while the Centre has granted Rs 1,000 crore, an amount of Rs 160 crore was provided under the CRF scheme, for mandal roads widening Rs 44 crores, for converting single lane into double lane roads Rs 525 crore and Rs 329 crore for bridges were provided.

As regards the members’ complaint about various problems being encountered by the people on the main highway, the Minister assured that all necessary steps were being taken to resolve them. (NSS)
