High alert in city till July 6

A high alert was sounded in the capital city and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in the wake of busting of ISIS module and terrorist attack in Istanbul airport in Turkey on Wednesday.

The government has deployed a large number of the elite Octopus personnel at the national and international terminals in the Shamshabad airport. The internal security has also been tightened. Besides, heavy contingents of CISF, CRPF personnel and security forces were deployed at the main roads leading to the airport as a precautionary measure. All the vehicles entering into the airport were being thoroughly checked and allowed to go. The high alert will be in force till July 6. The RGIA authorities have cancelled all kinds of entry passes and entry of visitors was banned. The officials asked all the air travelers to carry air tickets along with ID cards.

Similarly, security was tightened all over the city in the wake of terrorist activities. The police were thoroughly checking the people at the busy shopping malls. The police also set up roadblocks and searched vehicles in Madhapur and Gachibowli, the two IT clusters housing several multinational tech giants. Cyberabad police conducted searches at hotels, lodges, shopping malls and other public places. The search operations were being carried out in the wake of reports that IS sympathisers were plotting bomb attacks and indiscriminate firing at crowded places. (NSS)
