Hearing postponed in cases against Sania Mirza

Muzaffanagar (UP), September 25: A local court today adjourned till November 11 the hearing in the three cases against tennis player Sania Mirza for allegedly insulting national anthem during a function two years ago.

Three separate cases were filed against Sania Mirza, 23, for allegedly insulting national anthem under The Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971, on November 8, 2008, the prosecution said.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vikas Goel has now fixed November 11 for further hearing.

According to the complaints, Sania was not standing in attention when the national anthem was being played during the closing ceremony of a women’s tennis tournament where she was the chief guest.
