Hyderabad, August 12: The headmistress of a government primary school, who was arrested for allegedly punishing 11 students with a burning firewood in Warangal district, was today sent to 15 days’ judicial remand, police said.
The headmistress Sruthi Keerthi of government primary school at Jamandlapally village in the district allegedly punished students with a burning firewood meant for cooking mid-day meal.
Keerthi was suspended following the incident and arrested last evening on the complaint of district authorities.
She was produced before a local court in Mahabubabad town today which sent her in 15 days judicial custody.
A case under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC was registered against the headmistress, a police officer told PTI.
