HC nod for Telangana student’s rally

Hyderabad, January 03: Ahead of the all-party meeting scheduled for January 5, leaders from the Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh are preparing to take their campaign to the next level, while those supporting a unified state are girding up their loins to relaunch their agitation.

Meanwhile, the Telangana students got a huge boost on Saturday when the AP High Court overturned the decision of the police and gave permission for the “Vidyarthi Maha Garjana” on Sunday on the Osmania University campus. The rally organised by the Osmania University students Joint Action Committee on Sunday is expected to be attended by about five lakh students.

The High Court order, however, came with a stipulation that the meeting should be peaceful and that political leaders should stay away from it.

Students across Telangana staged protests on Saturday demanding permission for the rally. In response, the police deployed a huge number of personnel on the campus.
