Melbourne, January 17: Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden today said incidents of racist attacks on Indians here had caused “tremendous hurt” but asserted that Australians were all welcoming and took pride in hosting people from India, his second home.
The former Australian opening batsman and member of the Indian Premier League’s Chennai Super Kings Franchise, Hayden, offered his condolences to the families of the Indian victims and said authorities should ensure everybody’s safety.
“There has been a tremendous deal of hurt that has been caused by these racist incidents here in Australia. To that I want to say that my sincerest condolences to their families,” Hayden told NDTV.
Contending that he loved touring India and considered that country as his “second home”, Hayden said Australians also take pride in welcoming people from India.
