Cornered by Opposition leaders’ comments on law and order failure and increase in chain snatching cases, Minister T Harish Rao today lambasted the former for trying to discourage police force and belittling their duties here.
Harish Rao tried to downplay the Opposition comments and asked legislator Prabhakar to tender an apology for hitting on the morals of the Police department. The police system has not collapsed as being alleged and the personnel are at their best discharging duties. It was Congress government that openly organized playing cards clubs which were successfully closed down by the present government, he stated.
It is shame on the part of Congress leaders to insult the police personnel, who are protecting them, Harish rebutted. It is painful to talk in such a way and the Congress member should apologise for what he spoke, the minister said.
Later, Prabhakar offered to withdraw his words if he spoke anything unparliamentary or against the norms. (NSS)
