Greenhouse rooms to be set up in each block in J&K

Jammu, October 16: Agriculture department in Jammu and Kashmir would soon set up greenhouses at each block, which would act as show rooms for distributing seeds, samplings and plants to enable farmers to plan the cultivation of vegetables and other agriculture products well in advance.

This was announced by minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir while addressing farmer delegations at J&K Kissan Council meet and at a function organised by farmers training centre directorate of Agriculture here today to mark World Food Day.

The minister also announced that awareness camps would be held at each block before every crop season to educate people about new techniques of cultivation and use of inputs for better yield.

He said that farming occupation faces multi-dimensional challenges, particularly the falling profitability of the activity as compared to other professions.
