New Delhi, Oct. 11 : The grand alliance of JD (U), RJD and Congress on Sunday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled rally at Bhabua, Bihar, tomorrow and said that its live telecast would be violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
“Prime Minister Modi’s (Bhabhua) rally tomorrow is in the same place where polling is scheduled to take place. On one side, the people will cast their votes and the Prime Minister’s rally would be telecast on the other side, which will affect the voters and it would be violation of the Model Code of Conduct,” JD (U) leader K.C. Tyagi told ANI.
“We met the representatives of the Chief Election Commissioner and briefed them over the Model Code of Conduct’s Article 126,” he added.
Another JD (U) leader Pawan Verma, who was also the part of the delegation, questioned the timing of Prime Minister Modi’s rally.
“The first phase of Bihar elections is tomorrow. Is it a co-incidence that Prime Minister Modi begins his tour in neighbouring area on the same day?” he added.
Congress leader Ajay Maken said that he requested the Election Commission to ban campaigning 48 hours before polling for the first phase. (ANI)
