Govt. taking all steps to conduct Ganesh Festival in peaceful manner: Nayani

Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy has directed the officials to see that the Ganesh festival will be celebrated in a manner that the image of the Hyderabad it had across the world, will be highlighted.

The government conducted a review meeting on Ganesh festival at Secretariat here on Monday. Ganesh Utsava Samithi, MLAs—Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, NVVS Prabhakar, MLCs—Ramchander Rao, Bhanu Prasada Rao, officials of various departments—Chief secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, DGP Anurag Sharma, special chief secretary MG Gopal, GAD principal secretary Adhar Sinha, home department principal secretary Rajiv Trivedi, GHMC commissioner Dr Janardhan Reddy, City police commissioner P Mahender Reddy, Cyberabad police commissioners—Naveen Chand, Mahesh Bhagavath, Additional DG Anjani Kumar, Information department commissioner Navin Mittal, Pollution control board secretary Anil Kumar, Rangareddy collector Raghunandan Rao, fire services DG Rajiv Ratan, Baghyanagar Ganesh Utsava Samithi members—Baghavantha Rao, Shashidhar, Baddam Bal Reddy, Ministers—Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, T Padma Rao, P Mahender Reddy participated in the review meeting.

Speaking on this occasion, the Home Minister said that the arrangements will be made to see that the Ganesh festival will be held in a peaceful manner. He asked the cooperation of Baghyanagar Utsava Samithi to conduct the Ganesh festival in a smooth pace. The government will conduct the festival in a grand note than Mumbai. He asked the officials to make arrangements keeping the past experiences in mind.

He asked the police department to deploy about 20,000 police personnel to conduct the festival in peaceful manner. The CCTVs were installing in the ways where the Ganehs idols procession goes. The meetings will be conducted police station wise with the Ganesh Mandaps organizers. Home Minister directed the officials to take up steps for the idols immersion at city outskirts.

Home Minister said that 71 static and 70 mobile cranes will be pressed in to action for idols immersion from day 3 to 14 at 21 locations. The barricading is being taking up at 28 tanks with the help of roads and buildings department and with the cooperation of police. The construction of approach roads, repair to the roads, electrification, sanitation, installation of mobile toilets to be established in the ways the Ganesh procession goes through. He asked the officials to see that the idol immersion will be taken place from morning of August 15 onwards. He asked the officials to avail the services of boats and swimming experts at City outskirts like Saroornagar, Malkajgiri and Kapra.

Transport Minister Mahender Reddy asked the officials to collect the vehicles needed for immersion of idols. The Animal Husbandry Minister Srinivas Yadav said that the government will take up adequate steps to conduct the Ganesh festival in peaceful manner. He explained that the government will keep 70 additional transformers, 40 teams, stand by transformers available. Information Department commissioner Navin Mittal said that the department will keep the Public Address system at the places where immersion takes place. The officials have informed that they will run 8 additional MMTS rails from 11pm to 4AM on the idol immersion day. The government will keep 30 lakh sachets available at 109 places for the devotees.

The Health and Medical department will keep clinics, medicine and ambulances available for devotees on the immersion day. The Pollution Control Board will distribute 80,000 and Industries Department will distribute 20,000 earthen Ganesh idols to the people. RTC will run 400 additional buses in 32 routes in the nights during Ganesh Nava Ratrulu, the officials have informed. (NSS)
