Now, students should get 50% marks instead of 35% in UG courses

Hyderabad: Dept. of Education is seriously considering prescribing 50% minimum marks in semester examinations of undergraduate courses for seeking admissions in PG programs. If this rule is implemented, the students will face difficulties in pursuing higher studies. If they want to continue higher studies they have to reappear in the examinations to get 50% marks. Further, the students who do not secure 50% marks in any two consecutive semesters will not be promoted to next semester.

The officials of the Dept. of Education have consulted Vice Chancellors of various universities in this regard. From 2016-17, in Degree Courses, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been introduced but the officials did not implement the rules properly in the first year. The students who are studying in II and III years of degree courses will not get affected but those who seek admission in the first year, this year will get affected.
