Govt to constitute special court for trial of Ramalinga Raju

New Delhi, February 11: The government proposes to constitute a special court for speedy trial of former Satyam Computers chief B Ramalinga Raju, involved in a massive corporate fraud of about Rs 14,000 crore.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had requested the government to set up a special court exclusively to try Raju and other accused in the case.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court will be requested to nominate a Judge for the trial so that it could be fast tracked.

The Supreme Court had earlier cancelled the bail of Raju and others when CBI assured the court that all possible efforts would be made for speedy trial in the case and no unnecessary adjournments would be sought.

The High Court had granted him bail on the grounds that it would take long for the trial to conclude.

The apex court had been laying emphasis on the speedy trial of corruption and fraud cases.

Raju is facing allegations of forging and falsifying the accounts of Satyam Computers to create a false impression among the investors that the company was in a sound financial position, while actually it was in the red as Raju had diverted huge amounts to the company of his son.
