Hyderabad, Augsust 28: The State Government turned down the AP Road Transport Corporation’s plea to consider additional Central share in the funds being granted to purchase buses under the JNNURM urban transportation scheme as grant and directed that it would be loan cum grant.
In a order issued Thursday the State Government stated that Rs 181 crore Central share out of the revised project cost of about Rs 442 crore would come as loan cum grant. Earlier the project cost was about Rs 363.90 crore. However the project cost with respect to Hyderabad City was revised to Rs.205 crore from Rs.284 crore. Along with it the project cost for the other mission cities was also revised.
With this the total project cost has gone up to Rs 442 crore. The APSRTC have to repay about 40 percent of it.
Under the JNNURM urban transport scheme Visakhapatnam Corporation would get about Rs 75 crore, Vijayawada Rs 72 crore and Tirupati about 11 crore.
