Hyderabad, July 01: The Praja Rajyam party president has Chiranjeevi alleged that the Government was harassing his party leaders and workers.
He said that the police were booking cases against party leaders and workers and disturbing their businesses. These incidents took place in Prakasam, Krishna, West Godavari districts and in Tirupati, he explained.
Chiranjeevi wanted the ruling party leaders to direct their district leaders not to resort to such activities.
Reacting to the case filed against Kovur MLA T V Ramarao, Chiranjeevi stated that it was filed without a prima facie evidence and the Government should speed up the inquiry.
Asked whether he would go in support of the MLA, he said that one of the party leaders would visit the MLA’s hunger strike camp and convey the party’s solidarity.
He said that had written a letter to the Prime Minister welcoming him to Tirupati which was the constituency of the former and in that letter had requested that the worlds second largest pilgrim centre be given its due priority.
There was a need to improve basic facilities in the temple town and was going to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister on the problems of the town, he informed.
‘SUN’ REFERRED: Speaking on the party’s efforts to select a permanent election symbol, Chiranjeevi stated that the party leaders were preferring the ‘Sun’. The symbol was available for the State parties and as there was no contender, they would secure it, he expressed confidence.
The party was preparing for the GHMC elections and selection of incharges for the zones, constituencies and for the divisions was almost over, the PRP president informed.
Reacting on the reports that party senior leader P Sivasankar had not taken the party membership and was not in touch with it, he stated that the veteran politician was ready to lend his advice whenever asked.
