Gold recovers on fresh demand, positive global cues

New Delhi, February 19: Snapping its two-day decline, gold prices recovered by Rs 60 to Rs 16,860 per ten grams on the bullion market here today due to fresh demand amid positive global cues.

Standard gold and ornaments rose by Rs 60 each to Rs 16,860 and Rs 16,710 per ten grams, respectively, while sovereign gained Rs 25 to Rs 13,950 per piece of eight grams.

Marketmen said buying support and reports of recovery in the overseas markets pushed up bullion prices.

The precious metal added 40 cents to USD 1,109.10 an ounce in London.

However, silver ready was steady at Rs 25,050 per kg in limited deals and its weekly-based variety added Rs 135 to Rs 24,800 per kg on speculative buying.

Silver coins too gained Rs 100 at Rs 33,100 for buying and Rs 33,200 for selling of 100 pieces.
