Hyderabad, April 28: Continuing the trend, girls outperformed boys once again in the Intermediate Second Year examinations for the year 2010-2011, results of which were announced by the Board of Intermediate Education on Thursday.
While the girls achieved 66.3 pass percentage, the boys trailed behind them with 60.6 pass percentage in regulars. In all, 5,37,062 candidates passed the final year examination. While 2,00,623 candidates achieved A grade, 1,72,719 secured B grade, 80,829 got C grade while 28,805 managed to obtain D grade.
Releasing the results, Secondary Education Minister Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarathi said over 9.66 lakh students appeared in the examinations. The Minister announced that advance supplementary examinations would be held from May 27.
Mr Parthasarathi complimented parents for their wards’ good performance. BIE secretary Balaramaiah was also present.
In General course, a total number of 8,97,953 candidates appeared for the Second Year examinations. They include 7,08,495 regular and 1,89,458 private candidates.
Similarly, 68,777 candidates appeared for the vocational courses. They include 56,822 regular and 11,955 private candidates.
While Krishna district in Coastal Andhra occupied first place by achieving 76 pass percentage, Nalgonda district was placed last with 49 per cent students clearing their examinations. Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad and Chittoor districts occupied No 2 position by achieving 72 pass percentage followed by Visakhapatnam district which achieved 70 per cent. Guntur stood fourth with 68 per cent while Nellore and Adilabad ranked fifth with 66 per cent passes.
In Vocational courses, in all, 68,777 candidates appeared for the examination out of which 36,058 students passed.
While Srikakulam and Nizambad districts occupied first place by achieving 75 pass percentage, Warangal district occupied last place.
Adilabad district occupied No 2 position by achieving 74 pass percentage followed by Chittoor district which achieved 70 per cent. Nellore and Medak stood fourth with 68 per cent while Krishna ranked fifth with 67 per cent passes.
This year students from all regions of the state performed well and all districts had a pass percentage of over 50 per cent except Nalgonda in general course while Adilabad in vocational course.
The last date for the payment of examination fee for intermediate Advance Supplementary Examinations May/ June for both regular and private students, is May 5, 2011 and there is no provision for payment of examination fee with penalty after the due date, Mr Balaramaiah said.
The candidates will appear with the same recognised number of Intermediate Public Examination March.
The candidates who wish to avail the opportunity of recounting shall pay an amount of Rs 100 per paper and Rs 600 per paper for photo copy and re-verification of their answer book.
Both regular and private students can acquire their marks memo from respective colleges after May 2, 2011. (INN)
