Beijing, May 20: AN eight-year-old girl from a school in Henan, China, was beaten 320 times with a stick by her classmates on the orders of her teacher, reported China Press.
Zhang Jinjina, a Year Two pupil, was said to have been hauled up for failing to complete her mathematics homework.
Her teacher then gave her classmates a “task”.
“Every one of them hit me 10 times. Those who didn’t do it hard enough were themselves hit later,” the weeping girl recalled.
The paper reported that the pupils beat Zhang during the entire class period.
The teacher also joined in beating the poor pupil.
Zhang’s mother said her daughter collapsed as soon as she arrived home.
“Her lips were swollen and had turned purple,” she said.
According to Zhang’s classmates, the stick that was used was about a metre long and was as thick as two fingers.
A male pupil in her class received medical attention at a hospital after he was beaten 40 times in an another incident.
The teacher who allegedly instructed his pupils to beat Zhang was a 32-year-old who was named an outstanding and model teacher.
