The special meeting of general body of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be held on Tuesday to elect five co-option members.
According to sources, the GHMC meeting will be held in two sessions. During the first session, to be held at 10 AM, the corporation will be elected two co-option members belonging to minority communities. It includes one woman member. In the next session, scheduled at 11.30 AM, three other co-option members, including a woman, will be elected.
The ruling TRS has reportedly agreed to give one seat, under minority quota, to its ally MIM although it had asked for two seats, including one in General Category. According to sources, a total of 105 applications were received for election of three co-option members in the General Category. Of them, 94 were found eligible. The GHMC members will elect three of them as Co-option members.
The GHMC will hold another special meeting on May 28 to elect 1500 Ward Committee members. A total of 10 members will be elected for each of the 150 wards in the GHMC. The Area Sabha members too will be elected later.
It may be mentioned that the last GHMC meeting to elect co-option members could not be held due to want of quorum. (INN)
