KCR announces free land registration for poor

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday announced free land registration for poor people.

Addressing the District Collectors conference at MCR HRD Institute at Jubilee Hills here, the Chief Minister said most of the sale deeds in Telangana were made on plain paper by the poor people. Therefore, he said all such deals, up to 5 acres of land, would be registered at free of cost through a special drive from 2nd to 8th June.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of maintaining proper land records in the State. However, due to lack of money or knowledge, many sale deeds, executed about 20 to 30 years ago, were not registered by the people. Therefore, a one-time opportunity will be given to them to register their land at free of cost. He said this would enable the State Government to update its records with the names of real owners.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to gather details of Assigned Land under encroachment and take immediate steps to restore the same. (INN)
