GHMC has initiated fixing interlocking paver blocks across the city to prevent water pooling in certain areas.
15 places of the city have been identified for the purpose. Installation of interlocking blocks has been done at two places of Jubilee hills in the first phase on an experimental basis.
According to sources thanks to the potholed and uneven roads in certain places the water is pooled in the downward areas resulting in filth and making it a breeding ground for flies and mosquitoes. Subsequent to repeated complaints GHMC initiated fixing interlocking paver blocks in an attempt to settle the complaints.
Municipality sources say that blocks of nearly 25 meters at one place and 15 meters at another have been fixed. GHMC chief engineer Dhan Sing told that there was a proposal of fixing interlocking blocks at 13 different places.
