The Hyderabad High Court has adjourned the GHMC Ex-officio Members’ case to Monday.
During the hearing, State Advocate General argued that the State government has the power to amend the law. But the petitioners countered saying that the State has power to amend the law only once. The court agreed with the petitioner’s argument and advised the AG to come to the Court after reading the Andhra Pradesh State Re-organisation Act thoroughly.
It may be recalled that the Telangana State issued a G.O.No.207 including MLCs as Ex-officio members. TPCC Chief Official Spokesperson Dr D Sravan Kumar approached the Court on the issue. The Court, which took up the case on Wednesday, expressed its unhappiness over amendment to the Constitution and prepared to issue an interim injunction. But, the Telangana AG urged the Court to give a day’s time. Accordingly, the Court adjourned the case to Thursday. On Thursday, after hearing arguments of both sides, the Court adjourned the case to Monday. (NSS)
