GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday inspected the housing colonies which have been constructed under JNNURM scheme, Vambay housing scheme.
Nearly 2,000 houses have been constructed in 13 different areas under the scheme. Of 1920 constructed houses, 1532 houses have been allotted to the beneficiaries in which only 291 people are utilizing. The houses are not being occupied for various reasons such as the beneficiaries have not paid their shares, minimum basic amenities have not been provided at some of the colonies for which nearly 1658 houses are being lying vacant.
The GHMC Commissioner, along with housing and GHMC officials, visited and interacted with the residents who are staying at the colonies at Patigadda, L.B. Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Bansilalpet, Unnikota, Phoolbagh and other colonies situated in the GHMC limits.
While on inspection, the Commissioner interacted with the Collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts and instructed them to sort out the problems with regard to beneficiaries. He also asked officials to provide parks, playgrounds etc., wherever open places are available at the colonies.
Chief Engineers Imtiyaz Ahmed and Bhaskara Chary, Additional Commissioner (UCD) Shiv Kumar, and senior officials from various wings have participated in the visit. (INN)
