GHMC building 40 model markets: Commissioner

The GHMC is coming up with construction of 40 model markets and framing tender guidelines for allotment of shops at various places in the twin cities under the GHMC limits. Out of 40 markets being built at a cost of Rs 20.33 crore, 14 markets have been completed.

The model markets are being constructed with ground floor with seven shops each admeasuring 70 by 140 sft. Eight shops on first floor will have parking, toilet and other basic facilities. In these markets, shops will sell vegetables, non-vegetarian food items, bakery, sweet shops, chat, medical, mobile, electronics, dry cleaning, internet café, Mee-Seva, Hair salon, beauty parlor and so on for convenience of the citizens.

There will be no place for hotels, restaurants, wine shops and so on. The allotment of shops and other information will be advertised in newspapers as per the guidelines of the Government, said Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy. Those interested, may take details and other information from Deputy Commissioner concerned, he added.
