GHMC asked not to succumb to pressures in demolition drive

Telangana Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K Tarakarama Rao and Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma on Tuesday asked the Greater Hyderabad municipal officials not to succumb to the pressures from any quarter in the ongoing demolitions of illegal constructions on the Nalas in the Capital city.

The MA&UD Minister conducted a review meeting at Rajiv Sharma’s chamber at Secretariat here on Tuesday with officials of Municipal Administration department, GHMC and Finance department participating. During the meeting, the GHMC officials furnished the details of the situation after heavy rains in the City. They also tabled the details of the implementation of directions of the State government after the review meeting of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao two days ago.

 

litAt today’s review meeting, it was decided to improve the condition of the roads damaged in the torrential rains. The Chief Secretary assured the GHMC officials that the government would extend all help in repairing the roads in Hyderabad City. He also directed the GHMC officials to draft engineers from other departments to strengthen the GHMC Engineering department. The CS also ordered the GHMC officials to utilize the services of 30 DEs in repairing the roads from September 28. The GHMC was asked to appoint 30 DEs Circle-wise and utilize their services and make them to concentrate on the road repairs till completion.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR thanked the Chief Secretary for sending engineers from other departments to the GHMC. (NSS)
