Dublin: Leader of Ireland’s political party Sinn Féin, Gerry Adams has urged the Irish government to expel the Israeli ambassador from the country. He said, “There can be no justification or excuse by Israel for the calculated slaughter by Israeli military snipers of unarmed Palestinian protesters on the Gaza border with Israel.
While urging the European Union (EU) and United Nations (UN) to take a stand against Israeli violence, Mr Adams also urged the Irish government to expel the Israeli ambassador as a first step in formally and officially recognising the state of Palestine.
Referring his visit to Gaza in 2009, Adams claimed that the conditions for the almost two million Palestinians surviving in the Gaza strip were appalling. He further claimed that the Israeli stranglehold on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank has increased in the nine years since then.
Hailing Adams’ stand Gaza’s Council for international affairs thanked Adams and said the statement of senior leader Gerry Adams indicates that Irish people who have always stood for the rights of Palestinians have completely rejected the present violence of Jewish forces.
