New Delhi, February 28:Four minor students were apprehended in connection with the alleged beating to death of a 14-year-old boy, police said today.

Prashant, a Class VIII student of a government school, was beaten to death allegedly by four students alleging that he passed lewd comments at the sister of one of them.

The incident took place in Bindapur on Saturday evening.

“The deceased was returning to his Vishwas Nagar residence when he allegeldy passed a comment on a girl, nicknaming her ‘Shaktimaan’. The girl’s brother heard this and he and his three friends allegedly beat him up,” a senior police official said.

“We have booked the four, who are students of Classes 10 and 12, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and are waiting for the post-mortem report,” the official said.

Police had initially received a call that a boy had met with accident but when they went there, they could not find any evidence to suggest that the boy was hit by a vehicle.

“His injury marks did not suggest that he had met with an accident. He was bleeding from the nose and was taken to a local hospital from where he was shifted to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital,” a senior police official said. He died yesterday morning.

Eye-witnesses claimed the boy was stalking a girl and was allegedly lynched by the locals for this.
