Udaipur (Tripura), July 18: Two former lady teachers of a government school in South Tripura district, who had allegedly abetted the principal of the institute in raping a girl student have surrendered before the court, official sources said here today.
Mita Dutta, a former teacher of Kakrabon Navodaya School today surrendered before the district court and was sent to two months imprisonment in Udaipur jail, sources said.
The other teacher, Moutusi Deb surrendered in the same court on Thursday and was also sent to jail.
The Supreme Court, in a verdict on Wednesday upheld the punishment to the two teachers meted out by the Agartala bench of Gauhati High Court for abetting the rape, but reduced the sentence from six to two months.
