Johannesburg : The FIFA Emergency Committee has sacked Jerome Valcke from the post of Secretary General of the world’s football governing body.
Confirming the news, FIFA said that their Emergency Committee had decided to dismiss Valcke with immediate effect, terminating his employment relation, Sport24 reported.
The 55-year-old was earlier handed a provisional suspension from football-related activities for his alleged involvement in a scam to sell World Cup 2014 tickets at vastly inflated prices, thus taking a slice of the profits.
Earlier this week, FIFA’s ethics committee had opened formal proceedings against Valcke and had also recommended a nine-year ban on charges of conflict of interest.
With his dismissal, the Acting Secretary General, Markus Kattner will take over the duties of the post. (ANI)
