Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said income of farmers will be doubled by 2022 with Rs 4,000 per acre crop investment, increased water facility, reforms in farm sector and better marketing facility for minimum support price for their produce.
At a review meeting, the minister saw the power point presentation by the officials, who made a study in four States on marketing facilities and MSP to produce in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana. The officials informed that these States were taking several steps to provide MSP to produce and help the farmers through funds and better marketing facilities.
Later Harish said the report will be submitted to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to take a decision on the issue. The report comprises information on types of crops, yield, facilities for irrigation, storage, marketing and stabilization fund, payment for farmers, MSP and others. Stabilization funds will be used towards compensation if the farmers failed to get MSP, the officials said. Harish Rao said the Telangana Government was in forefront in making efforts to provide MSP to the farmers. He directed the officials to increase fresh vegetables outlets (Mana Kuragayalu shops) to 100 in the city. (NSS)
