Facilities in Govt hospitals to be improved

Hyderabad, October 22: Finally, the State Government has realised the need to improve the services and infrastructure facilities in the Government Hospitals.

Observing that the Corporate Hospitals were being largely benefited by the Arogyasri scheme, the State Government has decided to improve the amenities in the Government hospitals.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah today directed the officials of Medical and Health Department to come up with an action plan for improving the quality of services and infrastructure facilities in Go ve r nme n t hospitals. Arogyasri Minister P Satyanarayana admitted that lack of adequate facilities including super-speciality services in Government hospitals has prompted the State Government to start the Arogyasri scheme. The proposals are under the consideration of Pay Revision Commission. The Government is spending about Rs 180 crore for reimbursement of medical claims by the State Government employees.

A special panel of doctors has been constituted to look into the quality of artifical limbs and stents used under Arogyasri. The Arogyasri Minister said that 11 dialysis centres are being established at major hospitals across the State including Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad and King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam from November 1.
