‘Faasle’ Film festival begins in Lucknow

Lucknow, January 19: Historic films like ‘Garam Hawa’ and ‘Khamosh Pani’ will be screened in a film festival ‘Faasle’ that commenced in the Uttar Pradesh capital today.

The film festival, which would end on February 24, is an initiative of Sanatkada and Aman Trust.

A press release of the Sanatkada said the festival attempts a dialogue amongst youth in colleges on symbols and identities that they encounter in their daily lives.

The films to be screened in different colleges range from looking at milestones in the communal history of India, beginning with the historic film Garam Hawa, which looks at the pain of an ordinary Muslim family, Khamosh pani — a moving Pakistani film that looks at the touching plight of the diasppeared women, who got left across borders.

The films to be screened are based on the burning issues of the society, it added.

The other films include Firaaq, Mr and Mrs Iyer, Khuda Ke Liye and Amu.
