Visakhapatnam, Jun 11 (UNI) Union Minister for State Human Resources Development D Purandeswari will inaugurate Hyderabad-based L V Prasad Eye Institute in the port city here.
Speaking to the media Mr G N Rao, Chairman of the institute said total 1.3 crore surgeries have been performed in the state, out of which 42 per cent were absolutely free of cost.
As part of the community eye health initiative, seven vision centres in remote rural locations of Visianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts are manned by a trained vision technician with the state of the art equipment to diagnose, treat and refer patients to the tertiary care centres for further treatment.
State-of-the-art diagnostic equipment enabling a comprehensive eye examination by the senior consultants, advanced electronic medical record technology with the concept of paper free environment are some of the unique features of the institute.
