Udupi, April 14: To overcome the agony of his divorce from his wife, a French national has embarked on a cycle journey around the world and has arrived in this city of Karnataka.
The 38-year-old Alexander Freco from France was encountered by the media persons here yesterday when he was cycling in main streets.
Briefing about his cycle journey, Freco said he set out on cycling around the world after his wife deserted him. Claiming that he already has covered ten countries on cycle visiting all major tourist spots in France, Germany, Turkey, Hungary and Switzerland.
He arrived in India on August 10 last year and so for, he has covered New Delhi, Agra, Cochin, Tamil Nadu and Kerala and now has reached Udupi crossing Mangalore. He has plans to visit tourist spots in Goa, Assam and want to make Himalaya his last stop in India.
Civil engineer by profession, Alexander sold his bungalow, expensive car and other valuables and set out his adventurous cycle journey out of ‘disheartenment’.
He said he covers about 90 kilometers daily and by now, he has covered a total of 6,656 kilometers, out of which 1,956 kilometers in India alone.
