Enquiry ordered into escape of four undertrials

Aligarh (UP), October 24: A departmental enquiry has been ordered into the escape of four undertrials from police custody while being taken to a court here three days ago, a top police official said today.

Bobby, Amar Pal, Furqan and Shahzad escaped from police custody on Wednesday while they were being taken to the district court.

While Shahzad and Amar Pal were recaptured, Bobby and Furqan managed to flee, Superintendent of Police Mansingh Chauhan said, adding a departmental enquiry has been ordered into the incident.

Furqan was serving life term in Aligarh district jail, Chauhan said.

A search has been launched to nab them and vigil maintained on the Indo-Nepal border following the reports that the escaped convicts may slip into the neighbouring country.

The four undertrials managed to escape after overpowering two unarmed constables, who were escorting them, on the pretext of going to toilet.
