New Delhi, November 28: Non-teaching employees of about 200 universities from across the country have decided to stage a rally here on December 1 to press for enhanced allocation to the education sector and UGC pay scale for them.
The ‘march to Parliament’, being held under the banner of All India University Employees’ Confederation (AIUEC), would also seek to draw attention to the issue of “saving university education from the onslaught of private and foreign direct investment,” said AIUEC representative Bhabani Hota.
He said thousands of employees from over 200 universities would participate in the rally, in support of several other demands including setting up of a pay committee “immediately” to consider UGC pay scale for the employees.
Hota said the Government should also honour its commitment to raise allocation to the education sector.
