Employees to target govt again

Hyderabad, April 7 (INN): The state government is in for trouble again.

The ‘conspiracy’, to cut short the recent strong government staff agitation which almost rocked the parliament, became a short lived affair as a new outfit has figured on the scene to take the employees forward as most of the employees who had gone on strike were reluctant to call off their stir which reached a climax.

The Joint Struggle Committee, which is a breakaway group of TJAC, has decided to formulate their plan of action on April 9, according to their general secretary M Narasimha Rao here.

He said that the demands are same and their stress was to realize those long pending demands on top of which are the Telangana statehood demand. The state government had been adopting delaying tactics which will no more be tolerated, Mr Narasimha said.

To counter the state government’s attempts for defusing the agitation launched by the Telangana Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers, another outfit – this time the Joint Struggle Committee has come up with the same demands the foremost being Telangana statehood. The JSC leaders were expected to begin their stir shortly to realize their demands.

They had already met Chief Secretary S V Prasad last week and submitted their list of demands but so far no action has been taken. Sequel to this, the JSC leaders have formulated their action programme and were due to meet the Chief Secretary again shortly.

The leaders were of the opinion that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government was deliberately following procrastination method.

Whereas the state Legislators received a massive hike in their pay and allowances almost on an urgent basis, the government showed step-motherly treatment when the state staff demands were concerned, said the leaders.

All the 295 Legislators including two nominated Members plus the Legislative Council Members were recipients of the pay and allowances bonanza announced recently.

As if that were not enough they were to be gifted with laptops, gift vouchers from the state-run corporations and suitcases. I Pads and Samsung Galaxy Tab mobile phones were in addition to their pool of hefty hike in monthly pay and allowances which came to about Rs 95,000 per head.

The government did not forget those legislators who had already retired from the field. Depending on the number of terms they had served their pension has been fixed with a maximum or Rs 15,000 per month. (INN)
