Hyderabad: A delegation from Egypt visited Telangana and appreciated the quality of seeds produced here in the state. The delegation comprised of Egypt’s Agricultural ministry officials, met Telangana Agriculture Secretary C Partha Sarathi and told that seeds from Telangana were yielding high and sought export of more quantity of seeds from Telangana.
According to the news reported in Telangana Today, Gamal Alzab, Ministry of Agriculture, Egypt said that “Last year, we imported 550 metric tonnes of seed from Telangana and we now request the State government to increase the quantity this year.”
The delegation also met State Seed Certification Agency Director K Keshavulu who gave power point presentation to the delegation and told that the authority will be exporting more after due certification.
Telangana had started for the first time in India, an online certification for the supply of seed and Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority (TSSOCA) has been appointed by the centre as the nodal agency for the nine states in the country.
He further said that 60 percent of seeds are fulfilled by Telangana, which will soon become the seed bowl of the world.
