Hyderabad, September 11: The Congress high command is said to have offered three options to YSR’s son Jaganmohan Reddy as an alternative to the main ministership.
The sources said that the options are the deputy CM post, a position in the cabinet of the Union or of a position in the State party. Jagan YSR and chief assistant ‘for the campaign-CM’ KVP Ramachandra Rao is scheduled to return to Hyderabad on Friday and discuss options with Jagan, the sources added.
It was revealed on Thursday that the high command is not willing to give the post of CM Jagan at this juncture. KVP also told the group Jagan or any other person should not create obstacles to the CM K Rosaiah as it has been named by Sonia Gandhi. On Thursday night, met Sonia KVP political secretary Ahmed Patel along with former PCC president K Keshava Rao and informed of events in the state.
“I go to Hyderabad to attend the condolence meeting of the entire party on Friday. I’m going back to the capital on Saturday. I met Ahmed Patel convey this,” he told reporters after emerging from Patel’s residence on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, the chorus Jagan continued in the same tone. XI Congress of deputies headed by the Minister of the Union a Sai Pratap met the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on 20 minutes on Thursday and threw for Jagan as CM. Members included P Prabakharan, Yelliah Nandi, M Rajmohan Reddy, K and A Bapiraju Venkatram Reddy. Meanwhile, former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhary Pranab also met on Thursday, but denied having discussed the issue with him.
The central committee of Congress also met here on Thursday night and took note of the issue of AP, apart from discussing the campaign for Maharashtra. The Central Committee consists of Sonia, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pranab, Ahmed Patel and AK Antony. “The members discussed the evolution of AP,” a party source said, adding that it was a routine weekly meeting aimed at taking stock of current issues relating to the party.
