New Delhi: The number of applications received by Delhi University for over 60,000 seats being offered in various undergraduate courses crossed 1.71 lakh on Monday with more female candidates applying for admissions.
“Total number of registrations till 6 PM today were 1,71,191 of which 80,522 have already paid the fee,” DU Registrar Tarun Das said.
“The number of female applicants are 41,014 while the number of male applicants are 39,505. Five candidates from others category and 404 from PWD category have also applied,” he added.
This is for the first time that the university has introduced completely online admission procedure for UG admissions unlike previous years when it used to be both online and offline.
The online registration process began on June 1 and will continue till June 19.
Few students are complaining of the admission portal being “slow” but the varsity authorities maintained that they had arranged for servers keeping in mind the expected traffic on the website and the students should check after some time in case of any problems.
The first cut-off list will be announced on June 27 and unlike previous years, the varsity will release only five cut-off lists.
