DSP, SI convicted

Hyderabad, May 15: A former deputy superintendent of police has been dismissed from service by the Government following his conviction in a Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) trap case.

The former DSP of Vikarabad in Rangareddy district, Sai Krishna also held additional charge as the DSP at Chevella where he took a bribe of Rs two lakh for doing a favour to a person arrested in a murder case.

The Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Hyderabad has sentenced Sai Krishna to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and pay fine of Rs 10,000.

Meanwhile, the judge has also convicted a former sub-inspector of police for taking bribe of Rs 6,000 from a complainant for not arresting him and his parents at the Kukatpally police station.

The accused N Lakshminarayana, who was working as sub-inspector at Kukatpally police station, was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and pay a fine of Rs 5,000.

The court also convicted a former police constable A Srinivas for helping Lakshminarayana in the case and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment.
