BJP for Lok Ayukta probe into ministerial graft

Hyderabad, May 15: The State unit of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that the Government order an inquiry by the Lok Ayukta into alleged corruption on the part of ministers and legislators in the wake of a Congress MP’s accusations against a minister.

Criticising the Congress for its style of functioning, the BJP said it would impact the government adversely and its day-to-day administration in the State. Addressing a press conference, BJP State general secretary N Ramachandra Rao took strong objection to the Justice BN Srikrishna committee’s remarks on bifurcation of the State. He said that it had no right to talk about a “middle path’’. The BJP leader also said that the chairman of the panel had made a statement against Home Minister P Chidambaram’s December 9 statement.

Ramachandra Rao alleged that the Central and State Governments were merely playing charades and that the Srikrishna panel had no statutory powers.

This was why his party had decided against presenting its views before the committee. The BJP leader demanded that the TDP leadership announce its stand on Statehood for Telangana.

“Chandrababu Naidu should spell out his exact position,’’ he said.
