Hyderabad: Dy. CM of Telangana State, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali sent a letter to Minister for Minority Affairs, Mr. Muqtar Abbas Naqvi opposing the cancellation of Hajj subsidy and also its enhancement from Rs. 690 cr. to Rs. 1000 cr. Dy. CM disclosed that with the formation of Review Committee for the cancellation of Hajj subsidy created panic among the poor Indian Muslims since Hajj is one of the important obligations of Islam. Every Muslim has a desire to visit Makkah once in his lifetime. Muslims of India are economically backward which has been testified various committees and commissions. Despite this, a Muslim saves a part of his income for perfoming Hajj. He hopes that the Hajj subsidy offered by Govt. of India will be helpful to him. If this is cancelled, he will be overburdened and he won’t be able to perform Hajj during his life time. He appealed to Central Govt. to honour the sentiments of the Muslims of India and withdraw the proposal of cancellation of Hajj subsidy.
He further told that if need be, he would meet PM and Minister for Minority Affairs. He informed that although, Telangana was a new State, it made better arrangements for Hajj pilgrims. He pointed out that earlier governments did not make an attempt to provide free accommodation to Hajj pilgrims but during TRS Govt. it was made possible.
