Don’t take coercive step against Umar Khalid: Delhi High Court to JNU

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has directed the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) not to take any coercive steps against Umar Khalid till tomorrow. Umar Khalid, who was rusticated for one year and was imposed a fine of Rs. 20000 in connection with a 2016 incident of alleged anti-India slogans being raised at an event, made a plea challenging the penalty imposed on him.

The notice was issued to JNU by Justice Siddharth Mridul. Listing the matter tomorrow the court asked the JNU not to take coercive action against him.
