London: Do not answer if someone asks ‘can you hear me?’ during phone conversation. Just hang up the phone immediately.
According to the report published in Daily Mail, a major phone scam is tricking users into saying ‘yes’, before editing the reply into a conversation to grab money.
This scam initially started in America last month.
During the call, caller deliberately asks ‘Can you hear me?’ in spite of knowing that everything is perfect with the line.
Once you say ‘yes’, your reply will be recorded which will be used later to swindle you out of huge amounts of money.
It is also reported that if you refuse to pay the charges for products or services, the scammers can then threaten to take legal action based on your recording saying ‘yes’.
As several firms use voice signatures for business over the phone, it leaves users vulnerable.
