Pune: If divorce is given to a Muslim girl on WhatsApp, it gets prominent place in the media. It is alleged that people are using modern technological facilities for divorce. In the recent past, advertisements of divorce on postcard and newspapers found an important place in the media but a court in Maharashtra got a married couple separated through video conferencing but this did not catch the attention of national media.
The couple had married under Hindu Marriage Act of 1955 and got separated under the same act. The court arranged hearing through ‘Skype’ for the wife whereas the husband was present in the court. The couple had filed divorce petition in August 2016. They had love marriage after which they had settled down in Pune. At present, they are living in Singapore. The hearing of the case was scheduled for Saturday. The Husband reached India from Singapore whereas the wife returned to Singapore due to her prior engagements. The advocate of the husband requested the court for arranging video conference. The court accepted the plea and through video conference, passed the orders of separation.
It is reported that the wife is 26 years old and she hails from Amravati district of Maharashtra whereas the husband who is 28 years old belongs to Nagpur of Maharashtra State.
