New Delhi, March 23: Diesel and cooking gas to cost more in Delhi. Presenting the state budget for 2010-11 in the assembly, Delhi Finance Minister, AK Walia announced withdrawal of subsidy on cooking gas. The gas cylinder will now cost 40 rupees more.
The VAT on diesel will go up from 12 to 20 per cent raising the cost of diesel by 2 rupee 37 paise a litre.
Pure Ghee, Mobile Phones, Tractor Tubes and tyres, dry fruit, Coffee, locks, tea, gulcose and tyres will cost more as VAT on these items is proposed to be increased. However, food grain items including Sooji and Maida have been spared.
Dr. Walia said the funds provided for the Commonwealth Games are inadequate and urged the centre to allocate more.
