New Delhi, January 27: Panic was triggered at the busy Rajiv Chowk Metro station here today after police received an anonymous call to blow up the station.
Police received a call at 2:51 pm claiming that explosives were placed in the facility which cater to almost five lakh people every day, following which dog squads and bomb disposal teams were rushed to the spot.
All entry points to the station was closed at 3:12 pm as per the instructions of police.
“Bomb squad reached the station at 3:12 pm after which the entry into the station was not permitted,” a Metro spokesperson said.
“The required security checks as per set procedures were carried out immediately and after carrying out mandatory checks, the station was declared safe and the entry gates were reopened at 4.11 pm,” he said.
However, metro operations were normal and people were allowed to use the interchange facility at the busy station, Metro officials said.
CISF sources said Quick Reaction Teams and dog squads were pressed into service after the call was received.
“Anti-sabotage sweeping of the station was conducted and the entire station premises was checked,” the sources said.
